Melanie J Brown
MJB Cricket Sundays is all about raising money and awareness for our chosen local charity The Peace Hospice. In 2014 we raised over £1,600 for the cause through a summer long league between five grassroots cricket teams, with the help of our sponsors and supporters.
Each game generated funds from match fees, but we were helped greatly by support from MX Cricket, who sponsored the MX Cricket Biggest Six Competition – the winner of which won a top of the range £270 bat.
Peace Hospice Care is dedicated to improving the quality of life for patients and families facing a life limiting illness by providing care and support in the setting of their choice.
We are doing this in the name of our deeply missed friend, and cricketing motivator, Melanie Jane Brown. Without her passion for cricket many of those playing in the competition would never have picked up bat or ball. The game is richer thanks to her drive, and we thank her.
Melanie lost her battle with cancer at the young age of 32. Throughout her ordeal she was supported by family and friends. We are grateful to them all.
Despite Melanie not directly using the facilities offered by Watford Peace Hospice, her family and closest friends would like to show their support for the organisation by nominating it as the chosen charity again for this years fund raising efforts.
Watford Town Cricket Club are great supporters of MJB Cricket, the Peace Hospice and Grassroots cricket. This year they are generously providing us with use of all of their pitch and all of their on-site facilities. The bar will be open, the outfield is huge, and when the sun is shining there's no better place to be on a Sunday afternoon.
We are also very grateful to our other supporters:

Throughout the season MJB Cricket Sundays aims to raise at least £1,000 for our chosen charity, the Peace Hospice.
Match fees will be charged at £55 per team. Each player will be given the opportunity to make a personal donation, all of which will go straight to the charity.
Watford Town Cricket Club will be supplying use of their full range of facilities including fully licensed bar, tuck shop, hot drinks and, weather permitting, BBQ and a bouncy castle.
Throughout the season we will also be running other fund raising efforts to increase our total. Watch this space!
